Aargauer Kunsthaus
The Kunsthaus Aargau is one of the most important art museums in Switzerland. The 1956 building by Loepfe, Hänni & Haenggli created spacious rooms for Swiss art from the 18th century to the present day. The extension for the foyer by Herzog & de Meuron from 2003 is inviting and accessible to the public, with a strong design and color scheme that clearly sets it apart from the exhibition rooms. Among other things, the refurbishment brings the lighting up to the latest state of the art. With the opportunity to replace luminaires and tracks, the new lighting enables a significant improvement in lighting quality in terms of color rendering, control options and flexibility for ambient and accent lighting. The foyer has been given a new lighting characteristic. The previous linear recessed ceiling luminaires, which illuminated the verticals with surface light, have been replaced with recessed track for the use of spotlights with adjustable beam angles and color temperatures. This allows the room to be immersed in a wide variety of atmospheres for the specific use or event with narrow and wide beams as well as cool to warm light.
