The Chinese Department of the Riedberg Museum is most distinguished within the collections of Chinese art in Europe. To render the priceless ceramics visible in an optimum way was a great challenge. Conventional illumination of the display cabinets becomes superfluous if the shelf boards are luminous sources themselves. We have transformed this cutting-edge idea into reality for the Rietberg Museum. Cast shadows and light reflections on the glass belong to the past – providing an unhindered view on the precious ceramics, leaving no detail hidden.
