Wunderkammer - Natural History Museum Bern

Wunderkammer - the permanent exhibition Natural History Museum Bern The Natural History Museum Bern opens its laboratory section in the form of the new permanent exhibition. "Wunderkammer - the show collection". Behind thick glass, the wet collection is presented on floor-to-ceiling shelves. Densely filled with preserved organic material, which will be taken from the test tubes for scientific investigations in the subsequent laboratories. The precious exhibition is at the same time a high-tech workplace, and the lighting had to be realized within a tight framework of spatial specifications, conservation values and safety-related conditions. The room is cooled down to 12° Celsius and, because of the risk of explosion due to the formaldehyde content, no electrical installations are permitted below a certain height above the floor. Showcase lighting under extreme conditions. Bathed in warm light against a cold white laboratory background, the exhibits tell their story of the tangible existence they once were and the abstract scientific foundation they have become.
